Location: Vernon CT | I had a couple of OFC Members ask me about lowering the action on my New 1719-30CM-VN yesterday. They mentioned the High E string buzzing on the Walnut Bridge.
I decided to replace the D'Addario string with my prefered Elixir Nanoweb lights and while doing this I took out 1 shim from under the saddle. The action is much lower and closer to what I like. However, I did "experiment" a bit and did notice that if the 2nd shim is removed the High E string did sit extremely cose to the
bridge. I left 1 shim in and am happy with the action. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | That's what I ended up with. If I took out both shims, the e string hit the bridge. Apparently, on the new carved bridges they are the same thickness on both sides, so they can use them for lefties or righties. On the original Custom Legends, they were tapered toward the high e on right handed guitars. The bridge on mine is thicker than the bridges on any of my other Ovations. I think I'll sand it down more on the next string change and take another shim out. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | I've already done it some, but not enough to take both shims out. It was a 5 minute sanding job, hit it with a bit of walnut stain and it works fine. Isn't it a great sounding guitar? I was changing from the 87 to the 30th to the Folklore last night, deciding that the one I liked best was whichever I was playing at the time. I could have done that for a couple more hours with some of the others as well, but I run out of songs after a few minutes. |

Location: Vernon CT | Mark, It's a great sounding guitar! Before I bought it, I was play 3 "O'S" A Balladeer Special
for $449. A Legend for $799 and the 1719 30th CM
The other 2 sounded nice but when I payed the 1719 and had the guy at the store play all 3 with me standing about 6 ft in front of him
I was blown away at how much better this one sounded. I can't imagine what this will sound like when it "ages" in a few years. |

Location: Boise, Idaho | You don't need to raise the action. I forgot who posted here, but I think it was somebody from the factory who said the bridges weren't tapered on the new ones. It's a simple matter to sand the front down to get the taper back. I like the low action and this one still has plenty of drive even when it's set low. |
