Most any string will sound good on an Ovation. The trick is to always use string tubes.

I use D'Addario Custom Lights,(.011-.052).

I do the lights for fingerpicking. .012 is the thinnest and they usually run to .053 or .054, depending on the brand. I usually use Adamas, but also D'Addario or I've been liking the Martin Eric Claptons on my Folklore and have a set that I'm going to try on something else. I have so many guitars that need string changes, I can't make up my mind which to do first.

Custom light 11-52 if you have a soft touch, 12-53 for a little more punch. Elixers are my favorite.

Lights (12-53/54). Was using D'Adds EXP and Adamas interchangeably, but started using Martin SP phosphor bronze - not as "brassy" sounding & less squeak. Last almost as long as the long-life D'Add EXP at about 1/3 the cost. Tried Elixirs & couldn't get used them sounding dead when new, then sounding better after a couple hours of use. Gonna try DR Blue Peacocks on my Tak next string change.
