Location: Rhode Island | Any tips on removing the pre-amp appreciated. Should I try to replace the volume control knob or just get a new pre-amp. Also when I press the battery button, the green indicator light stays on for over 4 hours. Is that normal? On my Addamas the green indicator light times out in about 5 minutes. |

Location: Keepin' It Weird in Portland, OR | I'm guessing that you have an OP24... The green battery light on 1718 shines brightly and goes-out as soon as I release it.
I had a 4861 but mine had a OP-24+... If you change-it-out, I go for the Plus.
Don't know for sure what to tell ya'... This is really a "Bump" for smarter people to see this. |

Location: Rhode Island | I just got this guitar this week. I solved the the green indicator light issue. Yesterday I tried out the battery button when I got home. The green indicator light only stayed on for a few seconds as it should. Since the volume control is hosed (it just spins around with no off position) I assume that someone has tried to work on the pre-amp. I think the battery button is just sticking on the pre-amp face plate. A drop of silicone grease will probably solve the problem. When I remove the pre-amp for repair and re-install, everything will probably line up perfectly. I still need tips on removing the pre-amp. Also, can a volume control knob unit from radio shack be used? The volume control knob on my pre-amp is big. One of the smaller knobs on newer pre-amps would look alot better if the knobs are compatible with my pre-amp. |

Location: Rhode Island | John at Ovation is sending me a new volume control unit.
To remove the pre-amp there are (4) screws on the outside cover plate. Is there any attachment inside the guitar or should the pre-amp pull free from the inside once the outside (4) screws are removed? |
