| Peace all, have been playing an Ovation for the last three years, Korean made Balladeer from the 80's. Super Shallow. After 30 years of playing, I have finally found a guitar that I have to beg myself to put down. Alas, it needs fretwork and just three weeks before my first solo tour - I have always been with a band before.
I am what's called a live looper (didn't know there was such a moniker until I had already gotten addicted to looping) - and I've posted a handful of vids of me with my O - search my name on YouTube if you wanna.
Used an Applause back in the 70's for a couple songs, but never could afford an Ovation back then and besides, as a prog metal player who played 335's exclusively, I didn't need one back then. Never liked they way they slid off my knee but nowadays, a voice disorder prevents me from singing while seated, problem solved. And the Super Shallow is awesome through my PA - I can't remember the last time I played unplugged.
I never realized how many people would try to talk me out of fixing my 'plastic' guitar...and how many people discredit me before hearing me play because I don't play a 'real' guitar - wow! Then, after folks hear me, they either apologize or hide...I think it comes down to casual bias and uppity misinformation...their loss.
So, taking my O to Perfect Guitar to eval the first four frets, which prove I have a vice grip for a left hand...
