Anyone tell me the rough dimensions of the headstock on a 6-string steel-strung Ovation slothead?

e.g. one of these: http://www.ovationguitars.com/archive/guitar/k_1114_josh_white

Headstock Length?
Headstock width at widest point?
Headstock width at narrowest point?
width of slots?
nut width?
how far apart are the tuners?

Its for a 6-string Lap Steel building project

Surprised nobody has responded, so here goes:
These measurements (all in inches) were taken from an 1122 classical peghead, but should be pretty close-

Headstock Length? 7-1/4
Headstock width at widest point? 2-3/4
Headstock width at narrowest point? 2-3/8
width of slots? 1/2
nut width? 2, but I think it's 1-7/8 on a Josh White
how far apart are the tuners? 1-3/8
Best of luck. I made a lapsteel with a Tele neck pickup, and piezo bridge pickup, about a year ago, with a solid Ovation peghead design. Sold it to a lapsteel pro in Texas, who was fascinated with that design.

Thanks seesquare.

Wait... The headstock is 7-1/4" long, and only 2-3/4" at the widest point???

Thanks. I like the photo. Mine was going to be more... rectangular but maybe I can make her a bit more shapely if I can get access to a bandsaw. Making a fullsize drawing to get the headstock right, maybe slotted is not the way to go. What was the nut witdh and string spacing on your lap steel?

OK, I dragged out the patterns.
Fretboard, at nut, is 1.75", so divide by 5, to get spacing.
Total length is 35".
Width of lower bout is 11"
Width of upper bout is 7-3/8"
Body depth is 1-1/2", tapering to 9/16", at the peghead.
Scale length is 25.34" (yes, it is a Martin fretboard. So, shoot me.)
It has a piezo sensor under the saddle, and the EMG pickup, at 2.34" forward, with tone & volume slider pots, and a blender slider pot (that was a bit tricky!)
Action was set at 3/8".
Hope all this drivel is helpful.
Best of luck!

And so it begins...

My Dad has done all the work so far. The piece of wood was not long
enough so its to be built up from 4 pieces biscuit joined together.

Exciting times! have been practising slide playing on my Applause in anticipation. Not the ideal guitar shape for lap-style but I don't have any of those strange flat-backed ones.

Not sure if I posted photos of the finished product. Lok for my name K1000_D50 on Flickr.

Any ideas for adding legs? Various lap steel legs are available but I want to do it cheap! I want to be able to remove legs easily and have it playable with or without legs.

Yeah, but it may be a bit tricky to get the angles right.
Get some 1/4-inch (or metric-equivalent) threaded screw anchors. They have coarse woodscrew threads, on the outside, and machine-thread, on the inside.
Then, drill 3 holes. One in the peghead, and 2 in the tail-end, at about a 15-degree angle, insert the screw anchors, and you can probably just use threaded rods, for the legs.
Good luck!
