| Bought this Ovation guitar new from Daddy's Junky Music back in June of '94 and it has been a good play at home guitar since then. Great neck and fingerboard, although I wish the string spacing was a little wider at the nut and saddle.
After not playng it for a few months I took it out of the case and cannot get it to amplify or the tunerr to work, although the green LED blinks when you press the tuner button.
The cables are plugged into the base of the black plastic electronics casing and battery housing and all internal leads seem to be OK.
Changed the battery. Cleaned the contacts. No go.
Does anyone know if the internal electronics case is removable from the plastic rails it is mounted to ?
Does the rectangular-shaped housing:
Pop off ?
Slide off ?
Unclip in some way ?
I have a tendency to be a little bit of a bull in a china shop when dealing with things like this and I don't want to damage the casing or the mounting rail.
I'd like to remove the "can" (as I think it has been referred to in some posts here) to clean the other contact points and check the wiring a little better.
Also, do any of the newer Opto electronics systems fit the older Legend-style guitars ?
Thanks,

From what you're saying, I'd first suspect either the pickup or the connection to the preamp from the pickup.
Someone else will have to talk about removing the Optima, but that's one of my favorite preamps. If it's still working, I wouldn't replace it with anything newer.
I've upgraded your membership so feel free to post your questions in the other sections.

| Thanks Damon.
Someone (tpa) has sent me a link on how to remove the Optima from an Adamas, which I will follow after checking the pickup and connections to the preamp.
