OK, I'll try...

It's a legend (anniversary model) with 9 strings. The soundboard has a natural finish.

Howzat?

Oh sure, now you've gone and joined the "that ain't a real guitar" police!

If we didn't allow creativity in the Luthier world we'd ALL be playing guitars with round backs... oh, wait a minute... never mind.

I might have to pin that set up to my "if the parts show up and it's a long dark Winter" folder.

I'm thinking that it came from New Hartford.
I have a 10 string guitar along that idea (but I only have six strings on it)
I am guessing that with nine strings you get the chime-y of the double e and b... and octave G,
while still being able the thumb thump on the E, A and sometimes D.

There was a thread about an Adamas with 9 strings
But I cannot find a photo on the web.

I knew a player here in Nashville, early 80's... who had at least one of those custom built. Can't for the life of me remember his name.

I don't know.

It was for sale a few years ago on Ebay and I kept this photo from the original listing on my hard disk.

Taylor has that 8 string guitar with double 3rd and 4th strings. It's just okay sounding....nothing special.

Strange as it may seem I remember seeing these in adds in Guitar Player magazine back in the 80's...I believe....and I actually did see one for sale used years ago....very rare. It really has a unique sound and played very easy. I personally thought is was a rather interesting design....guess it never quite caught on.

I would rather take a 12 string and run matched pairs instead of octaves on the bass side.
Unless I had a lot of extra guitars laying around...

     +1

Wouldn't that 9 string arrangement create unequal tension on the neck and eventually cause twist?
