Location: Steeler Nation, Hudson Valley Contingent | We all know that JB and KK go out of their way for the nuts in this asylum. But I wanted to publicly give John a huge shout-out for his hospitality this morning. (Kim K. was out today.)
I spent a little over two hours as a guest of the factory and was permitted to nose around in a manner that should prove very beneficial to the calendar for some time to come. (I also got to play some killer guitars, which admittedly has absolutely nothing to do with printing a calendar. But who cares?! )
So once more: Thanks again John. How much beer do I owe you people now? (I've kinda lost track. ) |

Did you have the time or inclination to ask the guys about what Ovation is up to these days, what they think of things and where they're headed? |

Guild was more active, but Ovation was everywhere you looked, so I would hardly call it dead in the water. Lots of people are working in New Hartford, and that's what's important. |

Location: Miami | I've been in communication with John for the first time recently. I sent my recently acquired 1537 for a check-up and perhaps a little work. I'll be interested to see what he suggests. |

Location: Florence,SC | John and the folks have a Breadwinner of mine right now ... required a LOT of work. My philosophy is to always try and restore a non-working Ovation electric solidbody back to original whenever the funds are available. Just so happened I had a little extra cash when this one showed up at my door late one night "cold, wet, shivering, and in need of some love". Can hardly wait for its return. They already repainted a Breadwinner for me that some previous owner had badly stripped it of its original black paint. Man, talk about professional work ... I was stunned when I got it back!!!!!!
As a side note, I am usually torn when it comes to restoration of a vintage Ovation. However in this instance, it was truly a "basket case"!
Are the solid body Ovations old enough to be accurately called "vintage"?
