Location: Florence,SC | OK, here's my situation ... I'm trying to restore a blue Breadwinner back to its original glory. The Mothership is working on the neck and body and I'm working on the electronics while it's away. I've got everything up and running (thanks to Talbot) except for a bad tone control on the PC board. The board is labeled 400008-B with the output jack onboard (single coil pickups). So-o-o-o, I need a tone control (stacked pots with 3 long legs on one side and 3 longer legs on the other side), or a non-functioning preamp (any version) with a goood tone pot, or a fully functioning 40008-B pre-amp so I can just swap out, or (shiver) a fully working pre-amp (other version) and take a tone pot from it. Back when these parts were a bit more available, I didn't have the money to stock up; now that I've got a little more cash, parts are scarcer than hen's teeth ... ain't that the way it usually goes! I've got my eye out on ebay, but so far, no go. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also I wouldn't mind opening this up to a discussion on the different versions of pre-amps. I've seen 3:
1) the body mounted jack (400008-A)
2) the PC mounted jack, single coil pickups (400008-B)
3) the humbuckers (40008-D)
There's probably more versions, but those 3 seem to be the most logical ones.

Location: Upper Left USA | I checked my Preacher Deluxe and it has the 40008-D board.
I no longer have any Deacon/BW/PD spare parts to deal.
I might get to discuss this with my favorite Electrical guy, Numbfingers this weekend! |

Location: NW Washington State | Mike, can't make it this weekend, but are you sure you don't have one of those evgraved Breadwinner backplates in your stash?
Puppetman, check out Brudev's info on the unobtanium potentiometers in this old thread: http://www.ovationfanclub.com/megabbs/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=32...
The links to Brudev's schematics for the various versions still seem to work.
