One of my favorite rock instrumentalists. Highlights for me are the solos in "Riders on the Storm" and, of course, he LP version of "Light My Fire". He was the band's stable core and "secret weapon." He was a real pioneer of the Minmoog on "Strange Days." That album was out in 1968 long before others had done much with synth. The whole recored is full of subtle and eerie synthesizer magic. I read his books, too "Light My Fire" and "Poet in Exile." He was a schooled musician, Chicago native and very learned guy. RIP brother.

I saw that great show on TV recently about the Doors. He really WAS the heart of the band, and seemed like a very cool dude.
