Just made my last payment and collected my latest toy. I got a great deal on a used Adamas 1581KK. This thing is PERFECT, looks brand new. I have been told that Glen Campbell's son Dylan sold it to Guitar Center. Why would he have one of these, who knows. Anyway its mine now and its a fricken cannon! I got my first Adamas and hey if Glen really owned it, cool bonus!

The Legend Begins

Send off the story and serial# to Customer Service and see if they can dig up some information. We all know that the story behind a guitar enhances its sound and increases our enjoyment (well, most of the time)

Congratulations on your new guitar, Mario.

Congrats on your new toy!

As an aside,
When I saw Glen a while back, one of his sons was playing a blue-burst cut-a-way Adamas.
I can't remember the kid's name but he played pretty good, it was just his funky hairdo that made him kinda hard to watch
Glen's daughter played a black CL 6 string.
The only Ovation Glen played was a black Viper.

"hey if Glen really owned it, cool bonus"

Maybe...not sure how close Dillon is to Glen.

Shannon Campbell played several different Adamas guitars throughout the tour. I never saw him play a KK. But there are tons of youtube vids out there, if the salesman meant Shannon, to see if you can spot him playing a KK on the tour. The last part of the tour Ry Jarred played a Adamas 12. Ovation was well represented during Glens tour.

Dillon has a website

You might start there.  His brother, Travis, can be reached via Facebook...he also may be able to help ou contact Dillon.

Big ups! Anyone who thinks Ovation-Admas are weak "acoustically"--just saw this idea on another post--needs to play a 1581. Jeff and I recorded our debut CD with just one mic each in the studio plus a bit of reverb (see "Press Kit > audio below". Let 'er rip!

The factory looked it up and could not track it. As Beal would say, maybe it was salesman spoo.

Mario, I'm sure you'll enjoy that guitar. I think one of its best qualities is how it sounds when amplified. Have you "plugged it in" yet?

You know Dave I haven't plugged it in yet, gonna have to try it out TONIGHT. Beal, too much information! Speaking of the slippery slimy sales guy, I went to a Sam Ash and was just nosing around and wound up playing a guitar I liked and then the hard sell came. When they said 30 days satifaction I thought what the hell and they actually gave me a decent deal. After I said I would take it, I got the, "Oh man you are so lucky", "I envy you", "I wish I was taking it home". Then the manager came over and started up. I was thinking geeze guys I already bought it, give it a rest. They weren't so enthusiastic when I brought it back...

Heres a question. I mentioned that there is no history or way to track this guitar. Now I know why. The warranty card was never filed, its still in the case. The question is, can I file it?

I think that many people register online and not use the card. On the other hand, I bought a used Legend from a store that was traded in and had not been registered by the first user (verified by the store) and I was able to register it and got confirmation of ownership from Hartford. Sounds like you may be able to do that too.

Mario, Sending in the card is nice. The manufacturer now knows who owns it. Registration is not absolute proof of Warranty. The Warranty is to the original retail purchaser. Glen's son, or someone else, sold it to Guitar Center and your receipt probably says, used. There is always a chance that you will be asked for your receipt to support a Warranty Claim. Guitar Center is an authorized dealer, so that's in your favor, but you have already sent an inquiry about the guitar's serial# to the Factory. If your receipt is vague or shows a realistic price, where you can claim it was new, or NOS, or shop worn, etc. you could probably get away with it... and hope that no one at the Factory sees your thread on the OFC... LOL.

I originally suggested asking Customer Service, because there might have been some records of the guitar being giving to Dylan or to the Band. The Rep. might have given it to Dylan, thus no records at the Factory. The Legend of Mario's KK still lives!

Tell them it was a Leo Fender concept guitar...

Congrats on the new friend!
Poor Beal spent too long in that "Salesmen: can't live with em, can't beat em with a stick" world. It's a hard trip out...

Mario, I would send in the card. As stated, you may be asked for a receipt for original purchase if you need a repair.

My daughter's Adamas developed a delamination of the soundboard. She is not the original owner but the factory is fixing it for a ridiculously reasonable price. They are also doing a few additional minor cosmetic repairs. The Mother Ship is really taking care of us. As others have posted on this forum over the years, customer service for repairs is amazing.
