Location: South Georgia, usa | I have an old Celebrity cc068 with a broken neck. The break as at the top of the fretboard. The nut is gone but the pegboard and head are in good condition. This guitar is not worth sending to the factory for a neck replacement so I am looking at splicing the break or finding an old neck and replacing it myself. I have read that removing Ovation necks can be "fun" because of the epoxied joint. I don't know if this is true for the Korean models. Any advice will be appreciated. |

"Ovation Guitars really don't get the respect they deserve!"
Celebrity's get alot less than that!
I own, and have owned, my share...
Having said all that, I have not seen the damage (pics always help) but if it is a clean break, Gorilla Glue and maybe a pin or two should cure it. You can find or make a new nut.
Or, you can find NOS (new old stock) and used necks on ebarf if you wanna try a replacement.
I'm not sure about a CC68, but many O's have two bolts holding the neck on with a bit of glue that can be melted (maybe).
There are many Luthiers on this site, they woulda answered quicker if you hadn't written "Celebrity". :p
But I'm sure some advice is on the way...
Before someone else sez it, the general advice will be "Buy a US Ovation!" |

Location: Pacific Northwest Inland Empire | Welcome, Mr. Jones. Please post a picture, or two. And look inside the soundhole, at the base of the neck, for 2 hex-head bolts. If that's the case, I have a neck for you. If not, reglue the peghead. Pulling the neck is just not worth the effort. |
