I bought a used balladeer to play in 1983. It still has a sweet tight sound. I'm sure it's an early Balladeer. It looks like the the 1111 model but is a wee bit planer. It has a beautiful sunburst color with a black guitar pick guard at the bottom of the circle around the holes background is black w two red -one white stripe- then two red stripes in it. I've look at all the vintage models from that era but I could find none with a pick guard like mine. There is a serial #209083 and according to the Ovation site it could be from 79' but the label is missing on it. I was thinking is could be an artist balladeer but I can't find anything that looks like it anywhere. It could be any late 70's or early 80's model and am curious to know exactly what the hell is that?? Does anybody know?

Thanks,

Egatzcat

Hi Egatzcat,
Welcome to the OFC. Based on your description, I wouldn't have a clue. I don't know of any models "planer" than a 1111, let alone an early model with a pickguard. Can you post pictures? We'd love to see what you're talking about.

If the pick-guard was attached to the guitar, It was an Applause.

As far as I know those are the only "Ovations" with a Pick-Guard.

Thanks. I'm not a very good musician but I l make noise every chance I get. I also play at a Mex Strat & Goya a friend gave me years ago. My son's the real musician in the family. He inherited all the talent and long guitar players fingers to go with it.

It's not a cutaway body. It is a funky old Balladeer. Predating the cut away design. How can I load a picture of it?
