Any other suggestions will be appreciated. Another question is the type of finished used on the neck and peghead. It is hard and thick. I am guessing epoxy paint. As for buy American, I would love to have one, but I am on disability, and while I live comfortably there isn't much left over for expensive guitars. Again, thanks and all help is appreciated. ![]()

That is not good, but maybe our more industrious members have the answer. I was hoping for a more 'angled' break, kinda with the grain, at a slant... Then you woulda had some surface area to glue to, y'know?

The repair on the present neck will require 2 cuts- one on the end of the neck, the other on the peghead itself, and a graft into the middle. It will be a bit tricky to keep everything "square" in the process. I fabricated a whole, new peghead on an old Pacemaker 12-string, so it may be easier to just make a new head for this neck. Got your hands full there, Bubba!

I just don't have much faith in pulling off the neck, & replacing it. Getting it off cleanly, will be a trick, in itself, without messing up the binding, blowing the finish around the neck pocket, and sundry other hazard areas. The article posted by our esteemed colleague, tpa, may be feasible, but you're still missing a piece of the peghead itself. You could shave down the splintered area, and glue on a patch, then chisel out an area of the neck to attach the patched peghead to, I suppose. It may not be aesthetically pleasing, but it would be functional. Essentially, I got my shadetree luthier training by having more guts than brains, anyhow! By patching the peghead, you are preserving the original dimensions & geometry of the instrument's design, and that may be the most important issue. You have a straight neck, with the proper set angle, the right scale length, and a solid neck joint. Fix the peghead. OK, cheap advice is what you paid for. Now, it's up to you. Fix it, or sell it for parts.

Check eBay and the for sale section of this forum. What price range do you consider 'expensive'? Put the broken one on eBay as a 'project' and put the proceeds towards something that's immediately playable. Just my AUD$0.02

Sell the parts and checkout eBay and CL for a replacement. I've seen several Celebs cheap on CL. Saw an (choke) Applause for $75 yesterday. The reason I originally asked if your have another git is that I would loan ya one until ya got this issue solved. If you just want a git to play for a while, then glue the sucka back together and strum on. But if you're serious, get another git.

I wanted to try an Ovation so I bought this thing knowing the neck was broken. I just did not know that neck replacement on an Ovation was so much more difficult because of the epoxied joint. I guess I'm much like seesquare, more guts than brains, so I will try to fix the neck. I am still curious about the finish on the neck and peghead. As for my price limit, right know anything much over $200 is out of my range. If anybody knows of a decent American made Ovation in this price range, let me know. thanks
