Location: Yorkshire, England | I just wondered if anyone knew why the Ovation guitar model numbers are so varied over the years? 1771, 1778, 1769, 2077, 1868, 6778, etc.
I can appreciate the differences in the actual guitars but, do these numbers mean anything ? |

Location: Budd Lake, NJ | I've concluded that you need some kind of degree in numerology to keep it all straight; just when I was thinkin' that I might begin to understand it, the Adamas model numbers began to play games with my mind, too. Now I just try to keep track of the ones I've got, but I'm not real sure about one of those, either. As the Quaker brethren have been known to say, "My soul hath been meeked." ;) :D

Location: Buena Vista, New Jersey | Speaking of model numbers, does anyone know if Ovation made an LX version of the 1868? I can't seem to find a reference to it anywhere.

Location: closely held secret | Don't think so. All the LX models I'm aware of have either a mid-depth or contour bowl. |

Location: Yorkshire, England | The Elite I recently purchased is from 1990 and is a shallow bowl. As I think I mentioned earlier on another thread, it's hardly been played (If at all) and is just georgeous! Sorry to say that I'd never really been interestd in acoustics that much, as electrics were my first love - I just needed a decent acoustic to work things out on that I could leave lying around. But, since I'd stopped gigging and all I did mainly was play on the acoustic I had, I decided I was going to get a good one. This is where my question about all the model numbers came from, because when I looked into which style to buy, it became a bit mind boggling.
When I did buy, it was never going to be anything else other than an Ovation. Just LOVE `em! |
