I was wondering if there is much of a difference between the all brass bridge vs the bridge with the white nylon guides at the bottom and does anyone know of a place to buy an original circuit board/pre-amp???

Thanks,

Art

Hello and welcome.
In my opinion the nylon saddles provide a softer-edged and slightly clearer tone than the brass and a little less sustain but I'm not sure you couldn't set up a brass saddle Deacon with the right EQ settings and nail almost the same tone. While I did mention sustain, functionally there isn't much difference. If you were having a sustain contest the brass saddles might win, but really... other than to show off sustain, how often do you strum a chord and hold it for 8, 12 or 16 bars?

The electronics are no longer made and difficult to replace. Some parts can be repaired but it's a rarity.
What portion of yours is not working?

The one I'm buying has had an amp guy try to rework the original circuit board....I guess it was cutting in and out or just not dependable while playing....one time you flip a switch and it was fine, the next it was cut in half or very low....but the neck and body are in great shape!

Thanks,

Art

Hi Art, The symptom you are describing sounds like the switch itself failing. Not common, but that's the symptom when it happens. The switch is proprietary and to my knowledge I think I may be the only one that has any of them left. By the way, the switch will "feel" fine but unlike a typical pickup switch there are 4 poles not just 1 or two. Also, for the person working on it, make sure they know that the switch is neck, bridge, both not the usual both in the middle. The other is just a notch filter.
