Location: The Great Pacific Northwest | This is a self-serving, serious question. As many of you know I had a recording studio when I lived in Maryland. It was a proof-of-concept and without going into details here, was successful. Our move out here to the west coast was specifically with the plan to open a full service recording studio. Everything from the area we chose to live to the house we live in which includes a building on the property that is to be the recording studio was done with the goal of a recording studio in mind.
I have a full and detailed business plan, contractors have been chosen, studio designer has been chosen, and equipment has been chosen. Additionally I already own a lot of equipment. Unfortunately, while technically the collateral I have is nearly twice the value of what I need to get the startup funding, it's not the "right" kind of collateral. According to every funding source including banks and funds and foundations, "music gear" is to easy to unload quickly and quietly so they are not interested in it as collateral.
Market research, local demographics, competition, have all been thoroughly researched and are included in the business plan along with financial projections. The local economic development association has assisted in the planning.
If anyone(s) is seriously interested in investing in a recording studio please contact me via miles@slraudio.com. While I do not want to divulge the details in public this is essentially a no(low) risk proposition for the investor(s). For those that are familiar with loans for capital, I am looking for the cash collateral that will allow me to get the actual loan. This cash collateral will not be spent, it just needs to "be available" in order to get the actual loan.
