Kaki king's new CD, Glow, came out this Tuesday. Sounds reminiscent of her earlier solo acoustic stuff.

The venues have moved a step up from what they were 6 years ago ... could it have been that long ago???

She's playing Salt Lake in a couple of weeks at a much nicer venue than her last tour when she said she wanted to do the grunge bar band scene. The venue she played here definitely fit that bill.

She is very, very, VERY talented! I have come to really appreciate her unique style, which I admit threw me at first. She's great!

Willa, thanks for your kind words about Kaki. Glow is doing extremely well at Amazon and iTunes. As you can imagine, once it reached #12 at Amazon, I couldn't help but follow its progress. Amazingly, at 9pm Friday it reached #7 at Amazon and #28 on iTunes top 200!

How long do you suppose it's been since an all-instrumental acoustic guitar record was in Amazon's top 10?

Your comment suggests that you have heard it. If not, I'll give you a money-back guarantee if you buy it and don't like it. In fact, I'll give the same offer to any OFC'er.

I'll say this about it--if anyone wants to hear just how great her signature Adamas can sound, Glow is proof positive.

Finest regards,

Dave K.

I received "Glow" as a gift after a family member heard me raving about her. I think she is amazing and as a parent myself, I can certainly imagine your pride, Dave. I wish her the best there is, and I hope she sells MILLIONS,

Hate to bump the thread, but I wanted to share this album review with you, because it comes closest to my own opinion of her new record:

I could see why you'd like that review, especially the line, "Kaki still remains King." That wouldn't work for daughters with Polish surnames, but a proud dad is a proud dad. I'm going to put the album on my Christmas list.

For those in the MA/New England area--

Kaki is live at the Iron Horse Music Hall in Northampton MA on 11/8/12 at 7pm. The IHMH is a fabulous, intimate venue for dinner and a great show.

We saw Kaki play here in Salt Lake last night. It was a solo guitar performance of a cross section of all her music including several from the new CD. I like this new CD a lot. It is reminiscent of her earlier work but a more mature and refined production.

At the show she played several different guitars, including one with a brand new experimental Moog synth gizmo. She said it is not a processor but something which uses electromagnetics to modify the string vibrations. She was obviously in heaven just jamming and playing with it.

Nice, that's a Takamine TF740FS. 12 fret wideneck. One of my favorites.

Here's a nice video of her Salt Lake City show where she, as FlySig accurately reported, jams with the outboard Moog synth electromagnetic device:
