Location: Caribou, ME | I know there has been talk and photos of some beautiful and custom designed Ovations made by special order, and it has been said that Ovation will pretty much make whatever guitar you want, with the caveat that it will cost ya and it will take a while. Understood. Custom is custom and the man-hours, all that.
So... I wonder what would happen if I called Ovation and said I wanted a bare bones 1111-4 just like one that would have been made every blessed day 10 years ago? Nothing "custom" in the typical sense, just a run of the mill basic Ovation but made in the USA in the fall of 2012?
The price and time frame would scare me? Or not?
This question is unanswerable by those of us outside the factory walls but I'd be curious if there was a 1111 bowl assembly on a shelf somewhere and a neck being used as a doorstop and they just had to walk around and pick up pieces here and there or if they'd have to start from scratch? I'm being a smart aleck but you get where I'm coming from. |

| Are these hard to come by used? Forgive my ignorance. Definitely talk to Al, though.
A number of us Guild-ers (Al too!) were at the shop a few weeks ago... Not much going on there in O-land, I'm sorry to report. There were Fender headstocks among the Guilds (quite a few, actually), and there was some custom work going on in the Hamer area, but I don't think I saw any Ovations in the stream. I recall seeing more necks and bodies in previous years. |

Sorry I missed you at this years tour but I was afraid if I showed up I would buy another Guild that I could not afford like the GSR I snagged last year. |

Location: NJ | to answer the question the guitar would still be considered a one off instrument and the price would be higher than when they were closing them out but overall reasonable for a custom instrument.
My best guestimate is under 6 months delivery |
