Just obtained a `75 Ovation Legend in near mint cond. with ohsc from guitar center, in store Long Island. I just cant believe the condition, Not a scratch, indent, burn mark, crack, no corrosion on tuners and the case is like mint too! ohsc brown. When I picked it up and played it, I said WOW! very loud and full bass plugged her in, beautiful! String spacing is perfect and the schaller tuners, never felt them this buttery smooth in 36 yrs of playing. No cracks on the fretboard binding. Someone out there really cared for this axe big time!

The bridge is pristine like many vintage O`s ive had the bridge always had many string grooves, deep in them, this one, super clean. No lifting flat top, no dips, waves. Just need volume knob part. Just wanted to share, I will post picts soon. Have a great day

I've got one too ! Well, not in mint condition, but I think it's the same year. I wish there was a retrofit for the battery to convert it to accessible from the side rather than through the sound hole.

Thank you WillaMuse, Do the 1617 Vintage legends hold a good value when they are in the condition as described by myself ? mine is a `75

I think so. I have one that is BEAUTIFUL and plays and sounds incredible. I think they are one of the better/best out there. I've seen them go anywhere from a ridiculously low price (from someone that doesn't realize what they have), upwards to, believe it or not, $800 bucks or more for the older models, depending of course, on the conditon of the guitar. The top of my guitar is perfect.  It's the lighting that makes it look a bit uneven, but it is in fact, perfect.  Enjoy!

Thank you for your input Willa, I much appreciate your input to my question. I think I may even flip this guitar for another vintage 1619 cust. legend or a 1769 I just love the way the custom legends look with all that pretty bling, cant help myself lol..

Maybe someone will do me a trade on this fine forum?
I have eyed some real nice vintage for sale 1619`s and 1769 up for sale recently the one 1769-4 is a 94 like brand new barely touched. before I do anything I will make sure this new one coming is in tip top polished up from head to toe after I get done with it!

This one's from '79 and plays as good as it looks! (1617-4) < $400

Only a couple minor cosmetic flaws, perfect action and neck! (you can see the nicks in the lower bout)

Beautiful Astrodan, thanks for sharing Looks just like Cond. as my `76 . in store, I carefully looked over the top and neck and I cant find any issues what so ever! Going to give her a good buffing/cleaning when I pick her up on tuesday. As I said to willa above, I may even try to trade her for a 1619 or a 1769 if someone is interested? I cant help my self but I love the bling! I know it`s a sickness lol..

I love the bling, too! Ha. My fancy O's are nothing compared to my Taylor 916ce with Cindy inlays, but you should see my 1987 Collectors! Yikes! I think I'm blinged out now. The 1619's are gorgeous AND awesome!!! I might trade the 1617 for the 1619, but my 1617 is A-braced, and it really is FAB, but I dunno.  You should see some of Patch's babies.  WOW!  However, again, my bling runneth over, and here's why:

Phew!

Love it willa! I went to the taylor factory, it was fun! played a lot of beauties! I may put a trade feeler out there on this forum because I know folks here take great care of their guitars and are trusting souls. Yes Mr. Patch has some collection. Wanted to buy his 87 c twice but it didnt work out on my end, Sorry Patch. Would love to get one of those one day 87c yeah!
