Location: Southern California | Looking for my first Ovation, something that gives off a Cat Stevens vibe without it being the exact model that he played. I don’t need electronics but wouldn’t pass on a guitar if it had it. I’m just a couch player but want that nice acoustic sound. After researching here and looking on Ebay It seems that a late 70’/early 80’s Balladeer would fit the bill with models like ‘1111’, ‘1121’, ‘1612’, being popular vintage models. My budget is up to $400.
Any thoughts or suggestions particularly on any of the more recent/non vintage models including non-USA are appreciated.
Thanks much. Rob |

Location: Flahdaw | Suggestion: Buy a vintage O from someone who's been here on the forum for awhile. You'll probably get a good deal, but more importantly you'll get what's advertised. If they say "great condition" you can pretty well bet it IS. |

| Also agree with the response, get an older USA Ovation. About 6 months ago purchased a new C057 overseas made lower priced ovation and it plays great after removing shims and set up. A friend gave me a 83-84 custom balladeer 12 string with original case (he was retiring from music) just a few weeks ago. Anyhow after setting up the 12 string balladeer playability is also quite good for a 12 string but does sound much better than the C057. A bit of a pain to change the battery in the Balladeer compared to the new guitars (hoping it lasts long enough to change out between string changes). |

Location: Location Location Location | You can't do better than buying form a member here. That said, if you're careful, you can still get a great deal on Ebay. I bought a beautiful 1117 Legend, 1991, that was never used, for $500. Good luck! |
