Okay… Today I got a 2007 USA 1778T in really NEW-ish condition.
I think that it might have had a fret dressing… or maybe not.
Either that or it is truly New and only been played a very little bit.
I am thinking that someone must have played it. It is five-years old.
OR… It might really just be NOS… The tether from the preamp module to the can is still there.
After all of the T's that I have had and sold, I am really happy to get this... It's a Keeper!
These suckers are getting scarce, and I ain't gonna make a mistake and sell this one.

Also I recently bought a Brand New 1778TX-5 Korean Textured-Top T...
With warranty and Zero Gravity case and all that.
I bought it cuz I couldn't find a USA 1778T... so as soon as I got the TX I found the T.
So... I mentioned in another thread that I was gonna do a side-by-side once I got the chance...

I can tell that the wood on the top is thicker on the TX.
Also the texture on the paint is coarser on the USA T.
Y'know? Bigger droplets or whatever... Bigger bumps.
And they have different Neck construction, but the profiles feel the same.
Well really, the USA has a “Soft V” and the Korean has a “C” but they feel close when I am playing them.
And one has a TRC and one don’t. Both have the OP-Pro.
Now, they have different strings on them… So I didn't do a true comparison.
The TX has D’Addario EXP’s and I don’t know what is on the USA T.
Not D’Addario or Fender. Brass Balls... so maybe Adamas 1818's.
Now… I am an OFC Member and I know the difference…
One sez USA on the headstock and one sez Made in Korea on a sticker.
One has Quintad Bracing and one has generic Scalloped X Bracing.
And one has a counterfeit-looking logo on it.

Okay here is the Heresy… They both sound Great!

But if you have the Choice... all other things being equal... But the USA T.

You can say that again...

Good job Art!
So how much do you want for the 1778T?

Plugged in I find that they both sound GREAT (though the T plays nicer, because of its ebony vs. rosewood fretboard). Unplugged, though, the TX sounds GOOD while the T sounds GREAT, and I attribute this to the difference you also see in the wood and paint thickness.

Oh, Joe... I just changed the strings on the T...
I don't know what it had on it, but now it has EJ16's on it.

The USA T sounds much better than the Korean TX. But you knew that.
