While Brad was here we talked about Jarrett and the video his band did for the Save the VA campaign.

Our VA hospital which has consistently been rated as having the very best PTSD program in the country, is on the chopping block. Somebody made a backroom deal to build a new VA hospital in Rapid City (where you take your life in your hands just crossing the street, there is a bar on every block, and is just NOT a peacful, healing environment).

Anyway, this video is part of the program the committee has sent to our congressional delegation to try to get them to help the vets stay here in beautiful, peaceful Hot Springs. And Brad asked that I post it here so everyone can hear Jarretts band. This is a cover of a Nickelback song and there isn't any of the rippingly great guitar work Jarrett is capable of, but you can hear him sing. The bass player is my late friend Jay's grandson Dusty Aaberg, and the drummer is Karl Farenbrook (Sorry Karl if I spelled that wrong.)

So, here it is:

Awesome video, song, and purpose. I live between the Indianapolis and Dayton, Oh V.A's. In Richmond, In they have a out patient clinic I go to. But they are losing people left and right, and my Counselor was telling me they are losing way too many in the mental health field. I won't lie I have PTS/Bi Polar disorder, and lately its been hell getting scripts refilled on time along with other problems. She told me that there is a freeze on hiring and pay raises. All the Mental Health employees that retire, quit or go somewhere else, those lost positions are not being re filled. My mental health Doc retired but they did not and are not going to replace him. So I have to travel a long way to see a doctor or if they have time a video link appointment. I have had to deal with the up and downs of the VA for a long time, I really feel for those just coming back from over seas, needing the help, and have to wait wait wait for service. Thank you son for me, he did a great job, I hope they don't shut your hospital down.

I'm so sorry to hear that Kit. I hope things improve for you soon. You've been through too much already! You're such a great guy and deserve only the best!

I'd like to make a request - I know we aren't supposed to stray too far off topic here, and especially not into anything remotely political, so I ask that any comments be focused on the music, and we can always go to another section or even PMs for conversation on the reason for the video.

Thanks.

Nice tune, Allison. Great concept and execution. We don't have to get personal/political, but I think the effort here conveys a message of hope and comfort.
