The biggest difference I notice between it and a similar, but more conventional guitar, is the incredible amount of sustain added. You also get a slight boost in volume, or at least it seems so to me. If the suspension ring wasn't such an expensive upgrade, I'd definitely have more like it.

It is definitely a wood topped guitar in tone, aka an Ovation, as compared to what we think of as an Adamas. It did sound better than the regular production O's because of the suspension ring. The workmanship and the details were definitely a step above the run of the mill USA LX guitars, as one would expect given the pricing.

Had the booming base of a deep bowl Adamas, with a woody sound and less crispness of a graphite topped Adamas. It was as good as any wood topped guitar I had played. I bet they get even better when they open up more.

Had I not bought a new Custom Legend, and a new Adamas that same day, that one could very well have ended up on my wall. Funny how there's so many complainers on the moving of production to Asia, yet not many have bought the ones that are still being made here... Aside from Dave anyway

I've got all three: 6 string non cutaway deep bowl 6 string cutaway contour bowl 12 string cutaway contour bowl All are outstanding guitars. Many years ago I made the wise-arse comment "Only thing that could be better than an adamas would be an adamas with a wood top". Somebody must have been listening ... Hard to describe their sound. Not like a graphite top adamas, and not like a wood top ovation. Sort of like a new genetically engineered animal. Very unique and very, very easy to fall in love with. Not as loud as you might expect, but a more refined and elegent tone to my ears. With a gun to my head I could not tell you if they are better, worse or same as their graphite top counterparts. Just different in a very good kind of way. Only down side is that (by ovation standards) they are pretty damn expensive. Edited by Standingovation 2012-06-14 2:31 PM
