Can the factory repaint an Adamas top without hurting the tone. My old 1681 sounds fabulous but the top looks kind of old and faded. And perhaps it's my imagination, but I feel like there aren't very many sparkly metallic flecks on it anymore. Do the metal flecks fall off over the years?

Wow, you sure do have a great guitar collection! And thanks for the comment about the re-paint. If I think I'm going to move forward with the new paint job, I'll talk with customer service first and see what they have to say.

I'm sure there is a reason (and probably a very good one) that they paint these in the first place. My guess is that the Carbon fiber material is rather ugly in its natural state. I just didn't know if multi layers of paint would hurt the tone.

Do you still have an extensive Ovation collection?

If you want to see what the carbon fibre looks like unpainted, check out an Adamas 1680 or one of the export-only Adamases on Al's website. Not sure about stripping the paint off - how would you propose to do that?

Depends on your definition of "extensive" ...

I still have quite a few Adamas but have given up most of the Ovation models in favor of wooden guitars.

Guiguite!

I love that color!  You painted that yourself?  I thought it was a custom order.  I remember seeing it on Jerome's site, yes? PRETTY!
