| I love my Martin , but i am filled with Ovation blood when i play I have a 1972 Martin D18 with onbord Fishman pickups. The 1/4" jack is right on the bottom middle.
The bad: its been professionally repaired by Manhattan NYC luthiers 8 year ago. they did a tremendous job on the back. the neck was never broken. There are some pick scratches through the laquer on the opposite side of the pick guard.
The Good: Wow this is THE Martin to have, the sound is unbelieveable. better than any Taylor, warmer and better mids than some of the best Ovations (no offense i love the ovation sound personally more than the Martin). It has an amazing amount of Ju Ju as well. when you strum a chord the whole thing resonates and fills the room. Its really magical. I know this sounds like BS but i can only emphasize in words an indescribable beautiful warm tone. The price guide lists this model in fair-good condition at $1600 mine has the pickups and restoration but just as a starting point for a trade negotiation. It has the original case, and a humidifier (of course!)
Here's what im after.
currently my pride and joy and guitar i will pass on with is my Ser# A300 1967 Ovation Tornado in dark cherry. I would love a friend or two for her to keep company. A Hurricane in nutmeg would be an even swap if its mint with a case. I also would love a 12 string deacon or breadwinner in white. We could negotiate the rest in cash or gear if its something i love. Not interested in any roundback accoustics period unless its to make up on the trade. I have what i love.
If you think you want a Martin in your herd send me a note.
thanks
Dan
