I've heard of them doing this in the past but I sure didn't expect it! Hopefully they'll recoup parts/shipping cost when I send in my 1561! :D I'm still stunned...

Several times I've asked a simple question just looking for information about a part and 3 days later it shows up in the mail... It is unpredictable, though. Last time I asked JB for a price on an Optima, and guess what I got??? A price on an Optima. :D

Aside from the fact that they are such nice guys, they are examples of the old school American way of doing business by treating everyone as a valued customer. My ideas of taking on a few of my projects on my own when I finally get some time have now changed. I'll send the projects back to them and I'm sure the satisfaction I get from having them do the job will be better than the satisfaction I'd get from doing it myself.

Be very careful when ordering generic knobs. The gent I bought the git from tossed in a generic that had the set screw to high (middle) for the pot shaft. If you get a generic make sure the set screw is near the bottom of the knob! ![]()

Since then I've sent in one guitar for a neck reset & refurbishing, and this year I'll send in 2 others for full spa treatment. One simple goodwill gesture and they have a lifetime customer. Too many American companies forgot how that works to their ultimate benefit. As much as I appreciate JBs/MSs generosity, I feel somewhat guilty in that I wasn't looking for a 'gift'. With me they had a lifetime customer already, but only in the sense that I buy a new Ovation every 30 years. I think there's also a lot of pride involved, which is justified in their case. Unfortunately, there's not as much customer loyalty as there should be in this country anymore. I'm not talking about national pride. I'm talking about the outdated concept that if someone sells you a good product or performs a good service and treats you right, you would always go back, instead of going somewhere else just because of convenience or a coupon.

I'll gladly spend a few extra $$ to patronize a local small business - no matter if it's a grocer, hardware, music, auto mechanic, whatever - if I get good service. Developing a continuing relationship with such reaps rewards greater than any coupon. With the exception of JB/KK and KMC, I haven't found that level of service in national chains of any sort in years....I'm talking about the outdated concept that if someone sells you a good product or performs a good service and treats you right, you would always go back, instead of going somewhere else just because of convenience or a coupon.

Loyalty is a commodity that has just about run its course in the 21st century. Beans have no feelings nor emotions! Granted, I do a 'ton' of on-line shopping; but only when certain I items seek are not available locally. This occurs quite often in that 'over' and 'old' stock are the first things corporations look at (besides labor) to minimize expenditures. Thanx to the OFC 'hive mind' I've had the pleasure of 'meeting' JB. But that encounter sold me on the MS and her CS. But todays event has blown my socks off; thankfully in that I'm enjoying an 86 degree 'winter' day and wearing sandals! ![]()
