Guys,

I've owned a standard balladeer (1861-5) for almost a year now. Recently I noticed a tiny cap between the body and the back of the neck (just about enough to be able to insert a sheet of paper in some areas). Have you ever experienced the same? Should I worry that it might progress over time and try to get it fixed now?
I don't overtune the guitar, I keep it in the original case most fo the time, and the temperature varies between 10 and 25C. The only problem is the humidity: in this part of the world can get as high as 85%, whereas on the ovation website they recommend 40-60%.
Any feedback is much appreciated!

Cheers,

Alan

Welcome Alan...

I ain't a Luthier (just a bottom-feeder), but alot of US made Ovations have bolt-on necks, whereas alot of Celebrity's are glued-on.
Photos always help, since I don't know how big the gap is. Has it been there all along and you just noticed it?
Here is my relatively new Elite T (Orange Flames I might add) and some Junk Mail...

It was the guitar that was sitting here, and handy paper. I know that I have had other Ovations that I could slide a corner in there between the two bolts, and had no problems with the guitar.
(At least not cuz of that)

Hopefully, more knowledgeable people are reading this while I'm typing... :p

Thank you for the prompt reply :)

I would take a picture and attach it but I don't know how to upload it here... it's more or less like the one you attached (except that the opening is not at the corners but at the center). How big?! ..certainly not much (standard thickness A4 paper just fits).
I also don't know how long's been there, since I don't clean it that often.
Perhaps I'm just getting paranoid because I live for some time now just about 10 miles away from the ocean (and, as I said, humidity can get excessive), but if you say that shouldn't be a matter of concern I'm willing to take your word for it :)

you need a de-humidifier and hang it up!! i found that my case kept guitars would hold humidity and the neck would get out of wack...
