Location: Huntington Beach, CA | If the smell is faint enough, you can mask it with various products. This site advised me once to use pipe tobacco in a cloth bag (or sock), leave it in the guitar in the case for a few days. That part worked pretty good.
The holding the sock over my head and running around the room naked for an hour, screaming like a banshee, didn't seem to help much. I may just give that up one of these days.
I wouldn't use an air freshener as the blended smell will probably not be like the air freshener. Even if it was, you'd then have another soon-to-be obnoxious smell to deal with.
Check the humidity too. You might have to consider the environment the guitar came from versus where it is now and make necessary adjustments. Just some thoughts. Good luck.

Location: Vernon CT | Well All,
I went out and got the OZIUM & sprayed inside the bowl and the case. I put the guitars back in the cases and left them for a few days as directed by some of the above posts. Well I can honestly say I no longer have that Musty smell in the guitars, Thank-you. I must now start a new post on how to get the OZIUM smell out of my Guitars and cases!! :D :p |
