Think of sending someone out on a snipe hunt. Or in the Air Force, having a new airman fetch a bucket of prop wash or maybe hundred yards of flight line. In our electronics shop, we'd send a newbie out for a fallopian tube.

Being the only female patrol cop on my shift I could tell you some stories, funny ones cause the guys knew me, respected me and my engineer husband. But we all got the newbie crap.
I know I'm beyond 110 posts but your still the one (isn't that a song?) answering my questions right away.

Location: South of most, North of few | If you notice, when you restring an Ovation and pull the wrapped strings through the bridge, they make a sound akin to a file or rasp on wood. This loads the grooves in the string with microscopic pieces of wood that deaden the sound of the string. Some enterprising person designed small plastic tubes that slide into the holes of the bridge so the string will pass through without touching the wood, thereby eliminating the possibility of clogging up the string with wood fragments. The result is a perfect restringing without the loss of tone. |
