For those of you that have bought guitars from me in the past what I advertise is true. My word has been good everytime. I've supplied pictures when asked and answered every question honestly or to the best of my ability. NEVER had a dispute until now. Could this be the dreaded Taylor Snobbery I hear so much about??? Long story short between "negotiating off the original price, agreeing to pay half the frieght, paypal fee(My first P.P sale (I wasn't ready for this)Throwing in a Taylor gigbag and feedback buster and eventually giving back 8% of the sale to get rid of the P.P. dispute and stopping them from taking all of it out of my rapidly depleting Bank Account I lost about $200.00 on the sale. I will soon be cancelling my P.P. acct, Quit the "other" forum which I really NEVER am on. Only deal with people you "know" and trust. (Anyone thinking OFC? :) ) VERY BIG LESSON LEARNED!! :p to the buyer!!

Most of the stuff didn't seem to involve long time members, from what I can remember. The problem with a huge forum is that a few bad apples can spoil it for the bunch. Unfortunately, there are people out there who want something for nothing. I don't understand the Pay Pal thing, though. Was the other person trying to access your bank account? My dealings with Patch have been very good. :) I'm counting down the minutes until I pay him and get my hands on the 02 Collectors! Michelle

Lost 2800 dollars and a 2005 Rickenbacker 4003 Color of the year edition thanks to PayPal's non-existant but widely *acclaimed* "seller protection." Closed my payPal account and never looked back!

What was his problem??? Maybe here we like to think so!! :D Seriously it's just about the buyer being a maggot. I have never had any problems in my dealings with anyone here, quite the opposite. Unfortunately we expect others to deal as we ourselves would, not always the case unfortunately. Bob you should have offered it for sale here. You might have been "Jibed" but you sure wouldn't have been "Gipped" AJ

For the rest, it's nice to have a series of checks and balances. A small board, feedback, whatever. But when eye/eye contact isn't there, there are going to be risks in dealing long distance with people you don't know. I would not take this as an insult. More likely you just ran into someone who falls into category II and likes to get things cheaper than other folks. I think we've all seen 'em.

I would stand on a mountaintop and proclaim to the world that you are the most honest and fair guy that ever sold a Taylor. I KNOW that you're a good good man, and whoever this creep is, they will get theirs in the end. Someone, someday, will rip them off and they will know how it feels. Doesn't help you, I know, but it makes me feel better to publicly dis anyone who would do this to you, my friend!

I made the mistake of leaving the battery in the guitar, and it came out during shipping. My mistake. The buyer complained that there was a minuscule ding in the finish on the edge of the soundhole from the battery bouncing around, so I offered him 200.00 refund which he gladly (why not?) accepted. I refunded him through paypal. Three days later he contacts me and wants to send it back cause he says it may need a neck reset soon. This guitar played and sounded incredible, plus I sold it at a low price to begin with. I told him basically that it was a done deal, as he accepted my refund for the damage. He then proceeded to bad mouth me on that forum, (also to the moderators), and on two other forums. I finally had enough and confronted him on one of the forums and he shut up. Sorry for the rant, but I strive to be fair and honest when selling guitars, and this just frosts my bells.

I was talking to Al the other day and relayed a story about a recent guitar I thought I had sold. Seller insisted that it go out same day....paid for it via paypal...etc...etc. Later that day (after guitar has shipped) I get an email stating that wife went ballistic and the deal has to be canceled. Next day he demands his money back (guitar is still on its way to him) and he files a dispute with paypal stating that the guitar was not as described. Then he files with his credit card company and claims I won't refund his money (guitar is finally refused but still not returned to me). I get a call and an email from both cc company and paypal wanting to know what is up......I explain that customer refused guitar without even looking at it and that I had not received it back yet and would not return money until guitar was safely returned (UPS says the 13th) and that the buyer was an ass and an idiot. Paypal and cc company agreed and temporarily closed the dispute/refund claim. It is because more and more buyers are being this type of pain in the ass that I am going to probably market the rest of my guitars for sale via consignment. Yes, I will get less money but the loss of funds will be more than offset by the lack of hassle.
