I haven't seen such great guitars in these numbers since I got back into looking. Sell one nice guitar to get a nicer one due to the availability and some bargain basement prices... Just my

I bought my 07C for $700, my K-1111 for $600. A Red Flame GCXT just went for $440 with case and shipping. A relatively good 1615 just sold for $172 with case and shipping. While trying to sell my 1621 Artist I watched a bunch of perfectly good Ovations with Low prices in the $300 - $400 range just fade away without any bids. I have watched a coupla dozen reasonably priced Adami fade into oblivion with no takers. Yes, there are alot of good guitars being sold... By people who swore they would NEVER sell that guitar! The last four Ovations that I sold, I sold at a Loss. Great time to be buying, crappy time to be selling.

Samash at 20% off purchases of $399 or more isn't going to do it. Musician's Friend isn't doing anything much either. Lots of stuff at pawnshops. Craigslist and ebay are loaded. I've got cash, I just don't have much desire to buy anything. Here's a question I can't find an answer to...when these smaller retail shops close around the country, what happens to their inventory. I don't see any big liquidation sites on the internet, but I don't see manufacturers taking back unsold merchandise either.

I don't see any big liquidation sites on the internet, but I don't see manufacturers taking back unsold merchandise either. I was speaking to the owner of the South Austin Music Store and he mentioned that he had the opportunity to buy out the inventory of a mid west store that was going out of business, but that the majority of their inventory was Ovations, and that Ovation doesn't do well in Austin. (Wish I knew who it was) I don't know if you could generalize that to what happens as a rule, but it is one scenario.

Barring that, they'd be the property of the owner(s) to dispose of as they saw fit. But what happens to the ones that don't sell before the store closes....where do they go? A couple of years ago I saw an ad on Craigslist from a guy offering a number of guitars, his claim being that it was leftover unsold stock from his defunct music store. I imagine many of the guitars in those traveling road show/swap meets come from such inventory.

Now, what would a said "liquidator" do with a stash of guitars he took to settle outstanding debt. I'm just asking because there should be a clearinghouse for this stuff, but I've googled it and can't find anything. You know that Ovation, or Fender, or Taylor, etc., don't want this stuff back. It's gotta go somehwere.

I have never seen better deals on any classifieds. Come to think of it, when I picked up my UKII at GC a couple of years ago, it was only 25% off the original very old MSRP and had some issues which the good folks here helped me successfully deal with. But that might be a collector's item if the economy improves and if people at large get hip to that axe. Bob

The stores were turned-over to a 'inventory liquidation' company. During the "Sale" people went into the store looking for bargains and found that some of the prices had been RAISED! The Liquidation Companies bid on the opportunity to liquidate these stores, then they try to squeeze every penny they can get out of the store. Now these same people may look at a the MSRP of a Celebrity CS257 at $829 and think $750 is a good deal. Then in the end I guess they would end-up selling it bulk to some one else just to get a fast buck. Next, it ends-up on eBarf! BTW- That 'Clearance' at Joe's didn't turn-out too good for bargain hunters. I have no idea what they did with that inventory.
