Location: Utica, NY | Only as an unintentional part of the multi-outlet power strip that powers my side of things. We have taken the power out in a few places and it's almost always at the breaker box and not the strip. I am certain they are a great idea but we don't us them. Interestingly, the one time it did trip I didn't even think to check it. I forgot it was even in the power chain. After blaming the city building power, pouring over their breaker box and calling in two more city employees to diagnose the problem (on a Saturday night at a union mandated 4 hr minimum each person)that could find nothing wrong with their equipment it dawned on me that I should check the strip. Yup, you know what happens next. Click....Uh, never mind guys. We're all set now.
Pretty sure that won't happen a second time.
But, to the best of my knowledge, in over 25 years of playing in the some most questionably powered dives, houses, barns and on generators of assorted sizes I have not yet had an issue that a power strip would have solved. YMMV. |

Does anybody on this forum use surge protection on there gear, amps, mixers, pedals etc. Only because power strips offer more outlets than an extension cord... of course, always save one to plug in the second strip... |
