Not sure whether this is the most appropriate place to ask but many of you are so knowledgeable on all that is guitar. Does anyone here know where the best sites are to review vintage Gibson archtop guitars to buy? Appreciate the help.

Thanks, Beal. As I was going through the site, I noticed an Ovation Patriot. Kummers Vintage is supposed to have both serial #1 and #76 of the Patriot.

BTW, as I was digging into the vintage guitars, I have found http://www.gruhn.com

Iffy: Does that mean Patch is selling his #76? Not that I am interested in buying but just curious. Or Patch just bought the Patriot from Kummers?

Roger: Thanks for the links. Yes, I know a few of them. Jazz guitarist that I know suggested Gruhn website but he was less keen to recommend any other sites. Like OFC is Holy Grail for O lovers, I wondered whether there is this one site I should not miss in search for a Gibson archtop.

I don't think Patch is ever letting that one go! He can give ya the history on it...

BTW, I have #59 and it's in my will to pass on...

OFC is a great community, whereas archtop.com is a great seller of archtop guitars! I think the best jazz guitar community is online at groups.google.com, that being the Usenet group rec.music.makers.guitar.jazz. But you won't search there for a guitar per se. I don't think there's really an equivalent to OFC for Gibson archtops, and I'm a huge fan of those for many years, so I've looked...

I don't think there's an equivalent of the OFC for anything at all, anywhere!

No Patch isn't selling, that's from when I had it down there. Timm doesn't have either 1 or 76 anymore.
Mando Bandits are good for reference but I'd never buy from them. Also keep in mind that their prices are the top and the rest of teh world is 10% or so closer to reality.
Try Norm's rare guitars in Ca and Elderly in Michigan too.

Thanks for the input from all of you. OFC is indeed a great community for O lovers but also guitar lovers in general!

There's a number of well-written books documenting the history of Gibson guitars, including which model years, or decades, are preferable and why.
