The CL I've just arranged purchase on is an Anniversary Edition Al Dimeola mid depth bowl built for Guitar Center, and I think only for it's Japanese market stores. from what I've been able to dig up so far only 10 were made(I could be wrong on that #) but the official model # is 1779-5GC and built in 1997.... from the photos I've been able to pull off of some Japanese websites I can understand why the label was removed from the bowl, it's a little on the gaudy side.

I'm going to contact John/Kim and see if they'll send me a regular white football label with the model # on it.

not a bad grab for what I'm paying for it... and the seller has given me a layaway plan for 90 days, which makes it affordable and more practical given our current financial situation.

Thanks again to Mtnbikerfred for taking the time to head over to check it out for me.. looking forward to a favorable report :D .

no boost button,(at least not that I'm aware of yet), it has the HexFX preamp and stereo pickup, and I don't think that works with a boost switch.

the first AD's didn't have the boost either.. and this was a special order/limited run for the GC Anniversary Promo.. also no fret marker dots/diamond inlay either on these, just the abalone purfling/binding on the neck and body.

better pictures of the actual guitar I'm purchasing will be up on the ning site in just a few minutes.

the above picture was taken from a Japanese website.

Fred just called, says it looks and sounds good, not spectacular sounding, but strings were pretty old.... some minor pick swirl on the top and scratching on the rosette but nothing a little Meguiar's won't take care of. no dings, cracks or any other cosmetic issues.

Black guitars must compare to Black clothing (sweaters or dresses) as my wife says.... "they'll attract everything but Men or money"

I've owned a couple of -5s over the years and the fingerprint, dust, and smudge factor does get a little tiring with constant clean ups and polishing.

The electronics and pickup work as they should and all of the effects and splitting on the preamp signal out correctly. and the case is in good shape, and the neck is straight and no appreciable fret wear. Fred says it's in really good shape, and definitely worth what I'm paying.

so looks like I'm buying a 1779-5GC and hopefully will have it paid off in less than 3 months. The down payment/first installment goes out tomorrow.

Thanks again to Mtnbikerfred! and all here for the input and help.

gotta love a coward....you still haven't told me why you have such a grand problem with me, not that your opinion or views affect me or my circle.

I thought AL tossed you and your id, last time you popped in.

anyway, enough forage for the under-bridge dweller, next thing you know Hal will be back as well... along with SOPM...

Miles, as all ips are logged here, I'd like to personally request to know who the alias/id of the troll above belongs to.

I think my wife and I have taken enough abuse from him now and in the past and have the right to know who takes such great pleasure in the misfortunes, illnesses, or foibles of others, and why I/we are a particular favorite target to him/her/or,.. it.

I know my misdeeds here, as do others, and have made amends to those that I wronged. and those abuses were long ago....

The continued abuse and harassment from CR is completely uncalled for and out of line.

Respectfully,

Glenn Hess Sr.

Yea Glenn is just bad news. He sold me a K1115 for way less than it was worth, sent a bunch of stuff with it, answered all my stupid questions, gave me some great advice and thanked me profusely...truely a scam artist

Let it go Glenn, you have too much class to get into a tit-for tat with this guy.
