I am now the proud owner of my first ovation. yesterday my cc24s arrived. the only complaint i had about it was that it had a broken string. but that is no big deal i purchased a couple of packs of dunlop zakk wylde strings and restrung it. i am very pleased so far with the guitar but then again i've only had it for 1 day. i am amazed at the build quality of this guitar for a cheap priced guitar it is very well made. :)

Enjoy! I've had ovations/adamas for 30 odd years now and love them!

Congrats and enjoy

I just bought a CSE44 for a great price here so I could add my Idea preamp.

thanks folks, i really dig this guitar the actions is a little high but according to the manual i can take the saddle off and there should be shims i can remove to lower the action. have any of you tried this? i also like the dunlop zakk wylde strings i put on my guitar but only time will tell if they are winners or not. and as for pictures once i learn how to post them here i will do so. :)

Hunt around and you'll find a couple of threads with good instructions for removing shims. Use the "search" function at the top of the page.

Pretty much everybody has pulled a shim or two. Just loosen the strings a lot. Then gently lift the saddle up and you'll find 2 or 3 shims underneath. Pull one out and re-tune the guitar. It really is that easy.

:) :) :) Yes we have. The manual has a pretty good tutorial on page 9-10 I think:

Are the Wylde strings made for acoustic guitars?

FWIW, I don't think ol' Zakk every played anything acoustic, and acoustics don't sound very good with strings made for electrics.

Nobody doubts that there are Zakk Wylde strings...
I believe that on first glance few people would associate Zakk with acoustic guitars.
It's like nobody really thinks of Carlos or Jimi or Eddie or Yngwie playing acoustic guitars.
Although I am sure they can. :p
