OK ... So aside from the bridge shape and name/model number, what IS the difference between the Country Artist and the Folklore?

well.... Folklore = steel strings
Country Artist = nylon strings

or was that already too obvious?

I have a friend who owns a Folklore and he told me the nylon/steel string choice was interchangeable. I guess that WOULD explain the bridge difference though. Hey ... give me a break Palm, I'm just a bit ignorant on these two models.

no, no, no, different bracing, fret board arch, tuners and bridge.

2 different animals all together and not interchangeable at all.

Hi Vince,

sorry if it was too curt an answer... my apologies.

the bracing is probably different as well, tho I could be wrong.

I've had both models, and have enjoyed playing them both, but never tried the interchange of strings as has been previously described on the forum.

The folklore I purchased from a member here had a neck twist that couldn't get repaired or remedied, tho Mwoody did try... I think it finally wound up dis-assembled in the parts bin.

as soon as I finish paying off my 1779, I'll be in the market for another folklore, maybe a 6774 if I can find one cheap enough.

Thanks! That Country Artist is now on my Dream Sheet. I hope to try one out some day. I think I'd really like that better-of-both-worlds compromise with a classical guitar. ... goin' to bed now ... It's been a long day.

I love my CA, a little weak unplugged, but when it's plugged in, it's delicious! IMHO I haven't found a better plugged in A/E nylon. It's a combination of construction and the FET pre-amp

Assuming you are talking about older models ...
1624 is 14 fret artist bowl
1614 is 12 fret deep bowl

Vince, have your friend try stringing the Folklore with nylons and then buy it from him after he gets frustrated. That's how I got mine cheap, with a set of nylon strings that the prior owner couldn't get to work on the guitar. There might also be a slight difference in neck width, but I'd have to go check.
