Location: Hot Springs, S.D. | OK, I am NOT a Taylor basher for the fun of it, but I have never yet played one that I thought was worth the money. I guy I know just came in with #89 of 250 Taylor XXX-KE that someone GAVE him. Lots of bling on a small bodied guitar with koa back and sides. Elderly Instruments is selling one for over $3,000. Now this guitar had Elixers on it, which as most of you know, I am not fond of, so I would imagine it would sound better (to my ears) with some SIT's, but still, if I didn't know it was a Taylor, looking at the inlays and listening to to tone, I would have guessed it to be about a four hundred dollar guitar, maybe six tops.
If someone had given it to ME, I would be on the Taylor forum in a heartbeat, trying to get the most I could get for it. There's no way I would keep it or even THINK about playing it on stage when I have Ovations that sound and play SO much better.
Now this guy was in the shop just yesterday saying a Taylor was what he really wanted, and today, someone GAVE him one. So I would like to officially state right here and now, an Adamas I is what I really want. Who knows, maybe tomorrow... |

Location: Budd Lake, NJ | Joisey Goil #2 has a Taylor that set her back more than a grand; probably cost in the neighborhood of my ssb, Jewel. Hers is what I'd consider to be kinda mid-depth, and not blingy at all...and...the Jewelster eats it for breakfast, unplugged.
What I don't like about them is the fact that the heel is so deep, you can't wrap your thumb around the neck much past the 9th fret.
