BLING, and even if you don't, have a look-see:

Pretty! I want the head stock with the golden mother of pearl roses ...

I can see why folks like them, but they're not for me. I don't like the fancy bling on the Blueridge guitars either. But I have to say ... in the more money than sense column go the people who get inlays on the back of their headstock.

The thing about bling is that there's almost an implied 'duty' to be really good if you pull something like that out of the case. Unless you just want to hang it on the wall as art.

Like a weekend warrior bike rider buying a Lance Armstrong-caliber all-carbon bicycle.

I DO very much like bling, but I have my limit with it. All that 'lace' up the neck hurts my eyes!

Sometimes though, 'plain' or 'simple' is much more elegant and beautiful, making perhaps even a stronger impression over all. I have an old white-with-cream binding, Japanese Ovation Pinnacle model #3862 that is very plain but beautiful (she really sounds quite pretty, also!)

A really nice balance of classic styling is the '09C. The gorgeous tortoise shell binding tones down the abalone purfling just right. My goodness, it's beautiful. The ad and video images don't do it justice! You can see it on my ning page, along with some shots of MY bling ... bling, ning, I'm getting tongue tied .. My images don't do the koa justice, either ...
