Location: Brighty in Blighty | For a while been trying to finally add that last but of polish Eileen Niehouse's "Carolans Draught", it's a pretty straight forward piece but getting it really even yet flowing takes a little mastery. It certainly has helped developed my I M I M I M I fingering technique especially across strings. I've been dabbling at it for about a year and now I am pretty happy with it. It's DADGAD with capo at 5th fret.
Anyhow started Adrian Legg's "A Waltz For Leah" and again it's in DADGAD with capo at 5th fret. So both pieces have a harp like sound.
So out comes the 1680 (hmm already in DADGAD!), on goes the capo and WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is one SWEET sound! Every guitar has it's 'thing' and the harmonic overtones on the 1680 just make it THE guitar for those tunes.
Right enought typing back to learning section C of Waltz... |

Location: Utica, NY | You're making me feel better about going out on a bit of a limb to commit to the one I have OTW. I can't wait to play and hear it.
Do you find it difficult traveling above the 12th fret or do you not go there much?
Any clips of the 1680 online? |

You want me to believe that you can actually play something up in those frets past number five?
Those are just put there for looks!
Moody, back me up now!

Don't have too much trouble, to be honest for tunes that require a load of > 12th fret playing I just use the 07. Mostly it's just high harmonics and they are easily played. When you have the capo on at the 5th fret then the playing field is greatly reduced, typically tunes written with a 5th fret capo in mind don't venture too far up the neck anyhow so you should be OK.
It's a simply case of choosing your weapon carefully!

My 1680? No, don't do YouTube. Once the album is complete I'll release some samples. |
