For some weird reason (GAS) I purchased a Celebrity Acoustic Bass...
[One reason is that I cannot afford a USO Bass.]

I got an acoustic bass as opposed to an electric bass cuz it is acoustic.
This has an OP4BT preamp... Here is my question:
If I plug this into one of my Roland MicroCubes will I Blow-up the amp?
Do I need to get a dedicated Bass amp for this?
[If I get myself a 12" 100 watt Bass amp my neighbors will hate me even More!]

If anybody has one of these and wants to share any information about it, I would appreciate it.
I haven't gotten it yet. It hasn't even shipped yet.
So just one more thing for me to track on UPS.

OMA,

Can't help ya on the 'Cubes, but I have a mint old EKO acoustic/electric bass that I plugged into an old Peavey. The amp wouldn't reproduce the lower freqs.

I would be concerned about the speaker when cranking power though...

I'm sure others will have more helpful info.

BTW, that sure looks like it's in great condition.

Arthur ,

NOPE !! .. ya will not blow -up that micro cube , and YES !! .. it will sound like somethin`.. exept bassy .. that bass -git. played acoustically will probably out -boom that micro box ( I bet ya knew that allready ) ..
A 12" er Bass speaker / Amp. would be better , .. MUCH BETTER !! .. ( ya know that too ) ..

Yer neighbors love ya , just do n`t go medieval on `em .. :D

Vic

.. this was a test .. `right .. ? ..

I ASSUME we`re talkin` `bout that little gem with 5" speaker and 2 watts amp. driven by 6 AA cells ... that speakers voice coil can easily cope with said rated power ..

But perhaps Arthur is talkin` `bout the micro cube RX ( the one with 4 speakers ) or maybe the micro cube Bass RX .... ? ..

Vic

..and YESS!! .. that SURE is a " looker "..

I pretty much figure that I should not run it through the Cubes or the Profiler, but that is what I've got.
I guess I could just get me a cheapie something. But that is why I got the acoustic anyway...
To be acoustic.
But since it plugs-in, there is always the urge to plug it in.
I better just crack down and spend a hunnert bucks, huh?

add on---

Oh Vic, the seller sez that he bought it in January cuz he plays electric bass...
And he has played it about twice since he got it so he is sending it on it's way.
I told him that I don't even know how to play a bass, so I might send it on it's way too...
Or I might discover that I really like it and my life could take a whole new direction.

Arthur , Please .. do n`t get me wrong ..
`fcourse ya can use them amps. , just do not expect thunderous bass -levels , but ya WILL get INTERESTING results !! .. and that `s perhaps what ye`re after , experiment away .. after all , that`s what music`s all about , aint it :)

Boy! I can waste large amounts of money when I have too much free time on my hands....
And Bass Strings are down-right spendy ain't they.
But I got me a little camouflage practice bass amp (how macho) and some strings.
By that time I just went ahead bought some Snarling Dogs picks too, to put me over so they gave me free shipping.

But that GAS is terrible! Just buy One Little Toy and next thing you know your wallet is empty! :p

You sound like such a fun guy, OMA, and that's part of it, too. Have fun with that pretty baby.

So I got me a Big Black Ukulele!
Since I cannot play a bass, I played with it for a few minutes.
Now my left hand is tired. If nothing else, it is Real Good exercise and it will get me to stretch my reach.

You will notice that it is much taller than it's siblings. :D

I originally purchased my Acoustic Bass because i wanted to play in the park unplugged with my friends. I sampled just about EVERY acoustic bass and found the one I have to be the loudest unplugged, best playing, and best tone quality of any other acoustic bass. With that said, it is STILL not loud enough unplugged when the guitar players get strummin hard. (A heavy pick helps get some more volume though) ... anyways ... I ended up picking up a nice "Pignose HOG30 Bass Guitar Combo Amplifier " portable/battery-powered amp, and it does a great job, it plays for hours without having to re-charge. I can go anywhere and lay down the bass line and be heard now. Unless you are going to play regularly in a band, I'd definitely recommend the Pignose. Cost new: about $160 at Musiciansfriend.(Hey ... these guys should be paying me for advertising)
