Random quote: “Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.” -Plato

I was on the Big Road Blues forum and I came across a thread about one of the guys there doing live gigs on Second Life in front of a "live" online audience. Apparently you play live and get paid (in cyber dollars?). Apparently, the guy has also sold CDs as a result of the gigs.

Second Life Thread on Big Road Blues

Does anyone here have any experience with this? I don't belong to second life but I would join if say Lanaki, or Otto or someone else too far away to get to did a live cyber-gig.

Never heard of it.

But I'll do a live on-line gig for a $500,000 guarantee, limos to drive me and my entourage from my house to my house, and a green room spread to include bottled spring water and wheat grass juice chilled to 34.27 degrees Fahrenheit and a bowl of M&Ms with all the green ones removed.

Let me know.

Modern Times .. Could be a solution to some .. gigging with someone 10 thousand miles away ..interesting concept .. not only for those living in remote places .. pretty KEWL , come to think..

Second Life has been around for awhile and this is just another example of implementation or really cool technology. There are companies that use 2nd life as their office. It's quite amazing really.

Unfortunately, if you have issues with 3-D graphics like I do (vertigo) you're pretty much out of luck, which is sad I think. I have a character in 2nd life, but I take two steps and need the sea-sick bag. :(

I understand Cisco (I think it was Cisco) sent out a notice to employees that all personnel must be in "human" character when attending any corporate meetings. No Animals, Aliens, etc...

I have been on SL for 1-1/2 years. If you like live performances, there are dozens of concerts out there every night. Some of the performers stream live from home studios and sound and perform great. Others... not so. Some concerts are done in a club atmosphere, some in a coffee shop style. Musical styles vary greatly. Some do covers, others all original material. Most of it very enjoyable. The hardest part of SL is getting started.

Mr.O. Yes, SL is a 3D world, but its presented on a 2D screen. There is no 3D effect like with red/blue or polarized glasses. Its like watching 3D rendered animation (think Shrek, Ice Age or Monsters Inc).

And yes... You can be or do just about anything in SL.
