Location: Reisterstown, Maryland | Does bracing a crack 'fix' it? I'm looking to buy a
Custom Balladeer 1712 and the seller says it has a slight crack which was braced in 1993 and hasn't gotten any bigger. He wants $250.
What do you all think?
Thanks as always

Location: Marlton, NJ | The brace would basically stabilize the crack and stop it from spreading.
If the electronics work, and it comes with a case, sounds like a great deal. |

| Properly done, there shouldn't be any problems. The Mothership does it all the time. |

Location: Reisterstown, Maryland | I got this 1712 Tobacco Burst and I love it. It has the Fet 3 electronics in it and I'm impressed. Pics , I hope coming later today but I wanted to ask about this git's regular interior K-5 bracing and if anybody can show me what that looks like and how effective is/was it and do they still use it?
Thanks as always

Location: Michigan | I think if the crack were glued and then cleated properly it would not be a problem at all. There are many an old Martin guitar being swapped around and played that are 50-60-70 years old that have been cleated and it does not seem to affect them. |
