wah5023 asks:
Are these made in hartford?
You would have to be more specific...
If you are talking about 'Brand New', if they say LX they are made in New Hartford...
If they say AX, or TX, they are made in Korea.

If you are talking about buying Used, Elites were made in Connecticut before 2008.
They will say on the sticker inside the bowl where they were made.

And Welcome!

Yes, they Lied. (Or they are stup... er, uninformed)

And Yes, they are better than a Celebrity. (I think)
Although, I have never handled a Korean Elite, they have solid tops and OP-Pro pre-amp.

But you will be able to give us a review once you get it.
And if you bought it from a Dealer or evilBay, and you decide you don't like it you can send it back because they Lied.

BTW- Which model did you get?

Oh Wah... Don't be bitter.

$500 sounds like a good price with a case. They are $850 everywhere else.
This should be better than the Celebrity's.
They were obviously uninformed. Alot of sellers aren't Ovation Fanatics, so they see the name 'Elite' and figger that it is American.
Although it sez where it was made on the sticker, I believe that they also say Made In USA on the bowl cuz the BOWL is made in the USA.

I had a coupla Ultras. These were made in Korea and 'set-up' in New Hartford.
These were good guitars generally. Like I said, I have not handled a Korean Elite. But I did handle a Korean Ultra 2178, which is the cousin of what you got coming. (and a 2171)
Mine had it's own problems and I send it on to another member to rebuild and keep or resell. But there are quite a few Ultras that people here have that they are quite happy with. I am telling you about the Ultras because that series was replaced by the AX series.
Providing you are getting a new guitar with the 5 year warranty, I am sure that you will be satisfied. If not, send it back.

Well, I hope your are right...I just got 2 defects already...first one the fretboard was coming off the body, and the last one the neck was cracked near the headstock... I think they mean well but if this one has a problem I am done with them.

Quality control on new USA Ovation guitars has never been their strong point. But they have had a great service department to make up for it. Not sure what the whole thing means moving more and more models to Asia. There are many brands of guitars made in Asia that have meticulous quality control, so I was hoping / assuming that the situation might improve. The Standard Elite is certainly a nice guitar so please give us a full report on your experience either good or bad.

I let my wife buy be a celebrity cc24 for Christmas assuming that that the quality control would be comparable to my yamaha fg700s (also made in china) which was hands down absolutely flawless craftsmanship, it was perfect in every way for $199, so I though getting an ovation for $299 sight unseen was a safe enough bet. wrong. unskilled gouges and scrape marks all over the binding, heavily stoned frets, rough asymmetrical bridge with burs and glue stains all over it, I could go on. I guess it comes down to the company willing to fork out for a asian builder who's standards are on par with north americas

Tell them that you will accept any of These for $500! :D

On the real side, I would accept the 2778AX for $500! Like I said, you can always send it back.
