This is the amp I blew up a month ago. It turned out to be an internal fuse and a resistor, plus four tubes were upgraded for a more bluesy tone. This is basically a 15 watt Blues Junior chassis in a custom cabinet with a 10" and 12" speaker configuration, a first for Fender. The low wattage allows the volume to be turned up into its sweet range (between 7 and 10). It also handles pedals very well. Within a few years after the investment group bought Fender from CBS in 1985, the custom shop was created and Fender started hand-making their custom shop guitars. In 1991, they started making custom shop amps. This model represents their first effort at a custom amp. The styling and speaker configuration was a first for Fender. This one was formerly owned by Tim Kelliher of Outlaws and Renegades and can be seen on stage in some of their promo photos.

That's pretty nifty looking. What's the actual model?

Its called a "Two Tone," presumably to signify either the two different speaker sizes or the two-tone tolex, or both. It is not listed in their literature.

Nice, ok how much you want for it. ;)
I'm sure its not for sale, but I'll take first right of refusal.
Should post it on the vintage amp site in the fender section, talk about fender amp junkies..

Hey Bobbo, we're about the same age. Do you remember Western Auto? They sold guitars under their proprietary Truetone label. The guitars were made by either Harmony or Kay (see link below). I remember looking at these in our local store in Southern California.

I definitely remember Western Auto! It was started by George Pepperdine ... who later founded my Alma Mater. But I do not remember TrueTone guitars, although I remember going into the store with my dad and looking at the guns.

The TrueTone I now know is a nice music store in Santa Monica ... http://www.truetonemusic.com/. If Anyone is traveling to LA, a quick visit here and then up the street to McCabe's is a great way to spend a couple of hours.

I remember the Heath and Allied catalogs and the guitars and amps they carried...for a boy of 11 or 12 it was better than Christmas...

BTW, Brad, very nice amp...

We had a Western Auto in Colby, Kansas. I miss going to a real hardware store where the employees (often only one) actually knew something.
I doubt any of the ones ran into knew how to play guitar, though.
