Location: Mid-Atlantic | I have the 1868 Elite LX, Shallow 2005. This is a hard to find guitar if you live in the US and kind of hard to find in general. While Ovation offered the 1778 and 2078 in Elite LX models to US buyers, a Shallow Body would not be offered to the US market. Does anybody know why Ovation did this? I think there was an 1868 standard Elite offered.
Just wandering if anyone might know the marketing logic behind that. Either way - I'm selling this on ebay right now. I know this is a plug but I could really use the advertising and I hope an Ovation enthusiast gets it. thanks,

Location: SoCal | We were told at the factory tour in 2005 (or 2006) that Ovation was not going to be building any more ssb's for the U.S. market but instead was going to be concentrating on mid and deep bowls (contour?) because they wanted to be building great sounding acoustic guitars. That last about a year or less.... |

Location: Mid-Atlantic | Yep, that sounds about right - I heard that once before. They did not miss the mark with this one either. Its a great sounding guitar. Its sonic signature is slightly different than the larger bowls, more electric. I loved it. I like the fact that you can practice withing a few rooms of others and not produce a loud sound. Yet you can plug in and wham you got the Ovation sound loud and crystal clear. I'd definitely own another shallow. Its actually one of the best features of this guitar. Ovation used to make some interesting solid bodies years ago. |
