Location: Miami | I have a love/hate relationship with my "Lusty Red" Elite 1778T. For anybody who's thought of getting one, be aware that it looks nothing like the one pictured on the Ovation website. On the website it has a cool, maroon red color against that black background. I ordered one based on that picture. I couldn't wait to feast my eyes on a dark red axe. But when it arrived and I opened up the case for the first time, my first thought was "What's with the lollipop?" :eek: But whatever. It was mine for better or for worse, and I figured I could at least use it as a studio guitar or as a backup guitar for my gigs if I broke a string on the black one.
Fast forward 3 years and somehow or another she became my main axe! At first she just sounded better than anything else I played so I used her more for her sound than her looks. Maybe I grew colorblind. Maybe they put something hallucinogenic in the paint. All I know is, I can't stop thinking about her, and here are my top 10 thoughts about Rosalita, my lusty red Elite 1778T:
10. I can't stop staring. It's like a bad car accident.
9. At night she looks like red wine.
8. In broad daylight she looks more like grape flavored cough medicine.
7. She does have personality. (Then again, when a girl has a good personality...)
6. "Lusty Red?" I don't know about all that. Maybe more like Strawberry Kiwi.
5. Just not the manliest guitar. But next to the black Elite T, what is?
4. Then again, some guys dig the red and some guys don't, but all the girls do. I retract my earlier "manliest guitar" comment!
3. Some days I think she's hot. Other days I think she's nasty. Hmm. Maybe lusty red is a good description after all.
2. After 3 years, she still drives me crazy.
