I received many pleasant responses to the songs I've posted on the ning site, so I decided to add them to my soundclick page. Feel free to drop by and leave a comment or two.

Thanks again for the kind comments.

Nice ones, Patch!

I like "The Water is Wide." My son's choir did that one for school, so I really like the song, and you did it justice. Thanks!

I've always loved "Wild Mountain Thyme," but I always thought it was called "Will ye go, lassie?" You did it very nicely. Similar to John McDermott's -- my first favorite version.

Working my way through your repertoire: who couldn't love Shenandoah?!?!?

Nice job.

Beautiful harmonies with Sarah (sp.?)!

Sara has one of the best natural singing voices I've ever heard. Even without training, she's one of those vocalists who can stop whatever's happening in its tracks. Nice lady too BTW.

The other members of Patchwork (Jerry, Mark, and Jenny) all had great strengths that added to the overall sound. They were a great, fun ensemble. Easily one of the things I miss most about living in Savannah.

Continuing my way through your repertoire... Enjoy the energy and melody of Mingulay Boat Song. Then, the harmonies are great. Not knowing the song, it sounds like a fine old sea shanty!

So, have you fired up another "Patchwork" in Poughkeepsie yet?

"Remind Us Why" has a nice haunting quality to it...almost like a litany/chant rolled up into one. All your songs have a contemplative component to them. I guess that's in keeping with the genre. So far, I like 'em a lot!

So is "Desperate Faith" an album name as well as a song name? Looks like an album cover in the little soundclick pop-up window.

Oh, and, Patch, you have a great voice for your music! Right break, and you'd be big! (JMHO, of course!)

WOW Alan! Thank you for the many kind words. Desperate Faith was a demo collection I cut and copyrighted in 1992. It's your standard starving college student project (read low-budget), but the cassettes I sold at church covered the production and I had plenty of Christmas gifts to give that year. :) The album cover is one that I made with MS Publisher to replace the original that had a terribly dated photograph of me on it. (Suffice to say that I should probably write a song called "I Used To Have A Hairline" .)

Sadly, my gigging days are mostly behind me now, other than leading music at church and the occasional coffee house setting. I work full-time, hold down two part-time jobs, and consult online as a subject matter expert and contributing writer. I'm lucky that I find time to pick up the guitar at all anymore! :p I'm still in touch with everyone from Patchwork though. Some of them have gotten a kick out of this thread in particular. :)

I'll see if I can't put the rest of the Desperate Faith album up there for you to look at. All but two of the songs are originals, including a Christmas song that I think has become even more relevant with time.
