Took delivery of an MM68 mandolin on Friday. Got a second chance offer from the seller. I paid 1/3 of the cost of a new one. It's in very good shape (after the full spa treatment), electronics work fine and the OHC was included. Man these mandos are tiny. It sounds really nice, and I'm already working on Steve Winwood's "Back In The High Life". This is gonna be fun. Any helpful tips from any other mando playing members would be greatly appreciated as this is all uncharted territory for me.
Thanks, Dave

Thin flexible picks for strumming.

Google Dawg Picks. They're the extra extra heavy and rounded. That's what the mando guys use.

Someday I'm going to get me one of those and learn how to play it.

I'm still in the learning mode but have found that pick choice make a big difference. The strings are pretty high tension so I move up to a heavier pickm than I normally use on guitar. Best luck has been with the Fender California Clears in HEAVY. I rough up the non-tip surface a bit with sand paper to improve my grip. And after all that effort I still sound like a beginner
