1. I think the major touring acts are paid by the tour rather than by the show. There's just too many moving parts involved to pay by the show, although I'm sure they get some "expense" money if they need it, but most everything is paid for... they spend all day doing interviews, do the gig... party a bit... sleep a little... wash - rinse - repeat until the tour is done.

2. I found a source that seems pretty reliable as I have seen similar numbers for the same artists in several places.

Top Ten

By my math... $100 million over 100 shows.. is one million per show.

This is another list, from the previous year, with a different list of musicians, but the numbers are about the same.

Another top 10

1. The Police — $142.3 million
2. Josh Groban — $104.6 million
3. Kenny Chesney — $96.2 million
4. Justin Timberlake — $95.7 million
5. Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus — $87.4 million

i heard on the radio yesterday that the band " creed " were having trouble selling tickets on there comeback tour and the promoters dropped the price in one town to selling them for 75 cents.that has to hurt the morale of the band.GWB

A few years ago, when Metallica hired their current bass player, they gave him 1 million dollar signing bonus to insure he knew they were serious about wanting him.
